Lighting Programming and Operating for “Urmel aus dem Eis”

The Sat.1 production “Urmel aus dem Eis” was realised at MMC Studios in Cologne Ossendorf. The television adaptation was performed live as a stage play in front of an audience and recorded for later broadcast.

The moving light system consisted of 270 Vari-Lite VL5 fixtures and twelve VL3000s. It was controlled through a grandMA1 system operating in multi-user mode.

During preparation, the set was imported as a 3D model into grandMA 3D and the lighting was simulated in advance. This allowed the fixture groups to be prepared for each scene before entering the studio and reduced the time required for focusing on site.

Under the design responsibility of mo2 design, I managed 3D Preprogramming, Lighting Programming and Lighting Operating for the complete moving light system.
