Lighting Design for the Saisho Goma Ceremony 2009 in Berlin

On 21 June 2009, the Buddhist Saisho Goma Fire and Water Ceremony of the Shinnyo-en order took place at the Velodrom Berlin. Dedicated to world peace, the ceremony was framed by a multimedia opening and a staged closing sequence.

Choirs representing different world religions and music composed specifically for the event accompanied the religious ceremony. The production concluded with a taiko performance and a children’s choir of 200 participants.

The cycling track of the Velodrom served as a large-scale projection surface for thematically developed video content. I was responsible for the Lighting Design and worked as DoP for the live HD broadcast to Japan. Together with my team, I managed Lighting Preprogramming and Lighting Operating on site.
