Lighting design for Saisho Goma

Saisho Goma—a ceremony for world peace.

On June 21, 2009, a Buddhist fire and water ceremony organized by the Shinnyo En Order took place at the Berlin Velodrom. The religious portion of the event was framed by a multimedia opening ceremony and a closing ceremony. Choirs representing various world religions performed, and the ceremony was accompanied by music composed specifically for the occasion and performed by a band. The event concluded with a taiko drum performance and a 200-member children’s choir.

The velodrome, used as a projection screen, displayed video content relevant to the theme. COLD provided the appropriate lighting design and implemented it both during pre-programming and on-site with its team. The ceremony was broadcast live to Japan in HD.
