In June 2004, the Große ARD Olympiagala was broadcast from Athens as a live show lasting several hours in the run-up to the Olympic Games. The open air production took place around the Temple of Olympian Zeus in the centre of the city.

The temple ruins formed the visual background of the broadcast. The Acropolis, approximately two kilometres away, was also integrated into the lighting. Across several stages, talk segments alternated with around 40 performance acts.

A particular challenge was that the broadcast began during the transition from daylight into night. Due to the short summer nights, only a limited period was available for focusing and programming under actual nighttime conditions.

Commissioned by mo2 design, I held full responsibility for the Lighting Design and its implementation on site.
