Lighting design for Energy Air

As a follow-up to the well-known “Energy Stars for Free” event, Radio Energy Switzerland hosted a major open-air concert for the first time this year. In front of 40,000 spectators at Bern’s “Stade de Suisse,” there were six hours of live music featuring 14 national and international acts. Habegger’s stage design was based on a 68-meter-wide stage that filled an entire end of the stadium. A 600-square-meter video wall served as the stage’s main visual feature. Individual segments of the video wall were movable to create various setups for quick band changes. In addition, a center stage in the middle of the stadium was connected to the main stage via a 30-meter-long catwalk. The complexity of the show—with its diverse acts and varying performance areas—combined with a very short preparation time and the long recording duration, presented a major challenge for the lighting design. NRJ commissioned COLD to handle the lighting design for this event series.
